My Tree Perc Broke — What Should I Do?
Tree percolators are known for their smooth filtration, but they can be one of the most fragile parts of a bong. If your tree perc just broke, here’s what you need to know.
💔 Why did mine break?
Tree percs are:
- Made with thin glass tubes, which are more prone to snapping from impact
- Often held in place by a small weld near the chamber, which can loosen or crack over time
- Vulnerable when cleaning, especially if you shake the piece or use hot water suddenly
🧼 How to prevent future breakage:
- Avoid shaking your bong with the tree perc submerged
- Rinse gently instead of scrubbing directly
- Don’t expose it to sudden temperature changes
- Dry with care — don’t let it knock into the sink
🔧 Can it be fixed?
Unfortunately, most internal percs can’t be repaired if they’re broken — especially if they're fused into the main chamber. You can still use the bong if the break isn’t blocking airflow, but you may notice harsher hits or splashback.
If the perc is shattered or affecting function, it’s usually best to replace the piece.
